About Libraryola

Chris: Twin Peaks' Style, taken by Melaina EllerLibraryola is a biblioblog by Chris Zammarelli about libraries, information and technology issues. It focuses in particular on e-government, but will wander off on tangents when warranted.

Chris Zammarelli is a librarian presently working at the Brookings Institution. He graduated with a Master’s degree in library science from the University of Maryland’s College of Information Studies (iSchool) in May 2008. While at the iSchool, he concentrated on e-government. His Master’s thesis, Advanced Content In State E-Government: Criteria for Evaluation, [PDF] examined the use of audio & video content, RSS, and Web 2.0 applications on state government portals and governors’ websites.

Zammarelli is the chair-elect of SLA’s Government Information Division (DGI). In addition to writing Libraryola, he also co-writes a political humor blog called Suck My Caucus and a pop culture blog called Lemur Love. He contributed “My Life as a Librarian Exposed!” to Revolting Librarians Redux, and he is the former “Banned Bookslut” columnist for Bookslut. As if all of that wasn’t enough, he is the co-webmaster of Library Underground.

Zammarelli lives in Rockville, MD with his wife Jennifer, his chinchilla Pepe, and his son Kieran (pending).
